Billy Joel recently donated $50,000 to a super PAC backing Andrew Cuomo‘s mayoral bid, while billionaire businessman Barry Diller donated an impressive $250,000.

Cuomo is attempting a political resurrection after being forced to resign as New York governor after multiple misconduct allegations.

Joel has been a supporter of Cuomo in past elections – he held a campaign dinner in 2018 at his Centre Island estate for the then-governor. In 2013, the rocker performed at Cuomo’s birthday fundraiser at Roseland Ballroom, singing classics such as “Only The Good Die Young,” “This is The Time” and “Vienna.”

The $50,000 donation was provided by the William M. Joel Revocable Trust.

According to financial documents, Cuomo’s Fix The City PAC has brought in an additional $250,000 from Diller and another $250,000 from Third Point hedge funder Daniel Loeb. As a PAC, there is no limit to how much a donor can contribute to Fix the City. If a candidate wants to receive in-kind donations, each donor can give a max of $2,100.

Other $250,000 donors include Matthew Hulsizer, Suffolk Construction Company CEO John Fish, developer Peter Fine, RXR CEO Scott Rechler and Halmar International.
