HBO is under fire by Ukraine’s foreign ministry for casting Serbian actor Miloš Biković. Biković is set to star in season three of the award-winning dark comedy-drama series.

Ukraine’s foreign ministry took to X to express their opinions on the matter, tagging the HBO account on the post.

“Miloš Biković, Serbian actor who has been supporting Russia since the start of the full-scale invasion, is now set to star in HBO’s The White Lotus Season 3. @HBO, is it all right for you to work with a person who supports genocide & violates international law?”

Biković was granted Russian citizenship in 2021. Russian President Vladimir Putin has personally recognized Biković for his work in Russian media.

Biković has also said that he felt a strong connection to Russian culture and considered it his homeland. In 2019, the actor stated he was banned from entering Ukraine, in an interview with the Telegraph.

Since its premiere in 2021, The White Lotus has received 43 Emmy nominations across its first and second seasons. Production for season three is set for February in Thailand. Other cast members for the upcoming series include Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan and more.
