The fifth installment in the popular Transformers franchise is set to hit theaters in 2017.

Paramount CEO Brian Goldner announced the studio’s plans for Transformers 5 during a Hasbro earnings conference call earlier this week.

“We have in fact brought in Akiva Goldsman to lead a group of writers to really create a strategic plan around Transformers,” Goldner said. “We think there are any number of stories to be told from the brand that has been around for 30 years with amazing canon and mythology. We would expect the sequel to the Transformers movie to happen in 2017.”

Goldsman, who won an Academy Award for penning the A Beautiful Mind script, will help Paramount expand the Transformers in a way that will pave the way for potential spinoffs, according to Entertainment Weekly.

It’s expected that Mark Wahlberg, who signed on for more than one Transformers flick, will return for the fifth movie. Earlier this year, the actor had hinted that while he couldn’t speak to Michael Bay‘s plans, he was ready to get to work on the sequel.

“I can’t speak for Mr. Bay, but something tells me we’ll be on the set soon,” Wahlberg told MTV.
