'The Bachelor' Recap: Juan Pablo Galavis Sends Lucy Aragon & Christy Hansen Home
The Bachelor, back for the first time since Juan Pablo Galavis remarked that there shouldn't be a gay bachelor, included a pair of one-on-one dates and a group date to the soccer field.
'The Bachelor' Recap
For his first one-on-one, Juan Pablo picked Cassandra Ferguson, the 21-year-old NBA dancer who has a 2-year-old son named Trey. Last week, Cassandra shared her reservations about staying away from her son without knowing if Juan Pablo had any feelings for her. With it in mind that he’d send her home if he didn’t feel a connection, Juan Pablo tried to put his date at ease.
Apparently there’s no better way to settle one’s nerves that driving them into the water in an aquatic jeep. Once in the water, Juan Pablo sped up the vehicle for a little joy ride with a giggling Cassandra by his side. He then pulled them up to a yacht, which they jumped off, holding hands, into the water for a signature Bachelor photo op. The two proceeded to make out in the water.
Later, Juan Pablo brought Cassandra back to his place for some home cooking. They had a fireside heart-to-heart where they talked about their sons and ate chocolate. Although it seemed like the bachelor might be ready to let go of the youngest contestant, he offered her the first rose of the night.
Group Soccer Date
The group date this week took the girls to a soccer field to engage in Juan Pablo’s favorite pastime and one-time career. Taking the trip to the LA Galaxy’s home turf were Andi Dorfman, Christy Hansen, Nikki Ferrell, Renee Oteri, Kelly Travis, Danielle Ronco, Sharleen Joynt, Lauren Higginson, Alli Oetjen and Lucy Aragon. The group was split into two teams, with the red team getting the soccer playing Alli and the admittedly competitive Nikki. Although most of the girls had never kicked a soccer ball before, the game – refereed by Juan Pablo – got pretty intense.
After celebrating with champagne post-game, the ladies and Juan Pablo got all gussied up for dinner and drinks inside the stadium. Like last week, Nikki managed to get some alone time with the bachelor and appeared to engage him in conversations that most people would have when feeling out if they actually like each other or not. Throughout the rest of the date, Juan Pablo kissed Alli, Andy and Sharleen, but it was Nikki – who didn’t make a make out move on the bachelor – who got the rose.
Chelsie & Juan Pablo Bungee Jump
The “Do You Trust Me” date went to Chelsie Webster, who the fellow contestants think is more immature than her 24 years. Juan Pablo got the bubbly Chelsie to dance in the car to Venezuelan music with ease, but getting her to jump off a bridge proved a bit more difficult. After she convinced herself that Juan Pablo really cares about her, she said she could trust him and they tandem bungeed through the air. Their first kiss? Upside down and hanging above the water by a rope.
Juan Pablo then brought Chelsie for a romantic dinner at Pasadena City Hall. They shared their greatest fears – not being a good enough father and not being happy, respectively. After telling Chelsie he thought that she's destined to be a good mother, Juan Pablo offered her a rose, which she readily accepted.
Instead of the evening cocktail hour, this week the girls and Juan Pablo enjoyed some drinks and some pool time in the afternoon. Kelly made snarky comments about Kat Hurd jumping on Juan Pablo’s shoulders for a chicken fight. Things got even more awkward when Sharleen snuck a kiss on Juan Pablo that everyone saw. Clare Crawley couldn't bear seeing Juan Pablo with the other women and left the pool area. Renee, who is the de facto mother of the house, talked her out of leaving.
Rose Ceremony
Andi, Renee, Kelly, Sharleen, Elise, Kat, Alli, Clare, Lauren and Danielle all received roses from Juan Pablo. Cassandra, Nikki and Chelsie already had roses from the dates, leaving free spirit Lucy and Christy as the two sent home this week.
