Singer Darius Rucker Falls During Performance In Charleston: ‘I’m Old As…’
Singer Darius Rucker fell during a performance at the annual Riverfront Revival music festival in South Carolina, joking that he was “old as….” before bouncing back up.
Rucker, along with his band Hootie and the Blowfish, was singing his 2008 song “Alright.” The moment was captured on video by some audience members.
“I got a stereo,” Rucker yelled as he fell over an amp, continuing through the rest of the lyrics while stifling a laugh. After the song, he told the audience, “We’ve been doing this all summer. I hadn’t fell once. But I bused my a– in my hometown.”
Rucker and this band organized the first Riverfront Revival festival – which benefits the Medical University of South Carolina’s Shawn Jenkin’s Children’s Hospital – in his hometown of Charleston in 2022. Hootie and the Blowfish have performed each year since, doing so this week alongside acts like Collective Soul, The Revivalists, Jamey Johnson and Hailey Whitters.
Back in February, Rucker was arrested in Tennessee for a misdemeanor drug charge, which included two counts of simple possession and casual exchange of a controlled substance and one count of vehicle registration law violation.
