Sean Combs Claims He Wasn’t Aware His Prison Call With Kanye West Was Being Recorded For A Song
Last week, Rapper Kanye West released an audio recording of a call between himself and Sean Combs, who is in jail in New York City. On the call, Combs praised West for taking care of his children.
It is still unclear who leaked the video, but The Shade Room released it on Instagram. It appears to have been recorded by West.

Combs is being held without bail at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. He is awaiting trial following charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution.
The MDC said that while all phone calls are recorded, call logs and recordings are never released to the public. It is unknown how the conversation was posted. The call is reportedly not AI’s work.
Combs is heard telling West to have fun by getting behind the microphone before thanking him for watching over his children following his arrest in September 2024.
West took Combs’ words of appreciation from the recorded call and used them in the opening for his new song, “Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine,” which he shared a bit of in a since-deleted post on X.
The track also upset West’s ex, Kim Kardashian, who tried to get a judge to block its release after daughter North West was given a role on the song.
West has refused to comment on whether he was responsible for recording the clip.
