Once Upon A Time has officially cast Rose McIver as Tinkerbell in the show’s third season. McIver is said to have a multiple episode arc – presumably Tinkerbell will appear as part of the Neverland storyline.

McIver is a New Zealand actress whose previous credits include The Lovely Bones (2009) and Power Rangers R.P.M. (2009). This year, she will also appear in the Showtime original series Masters of Sex starring Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan.

Creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis teased fans at Comic Con, saying that Tinkerbell will be part of their darker portrayal of Neverland resident, Peter Pan.

“We’re going to find that she [Tinkerbell] has a surprising connection to someone at this table,” Horowitz said at the Once Upon A Time panel.

At the table were Robert Carlyle (Rumplestiltskin), Lana Parrilla (Evil Queen), Emilie De Ravin (Belle), Colin O’Donoghue (Captain Hook), Michael Raymond-James (Neal Cassidy), Josh Dallas (Prince Charming), Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White), and Jennifer Morrison (Emma Swann). Horowitz did eliminate O’Donoghue – that would be too easy, after all.

Once Upon A Time will also be featuring Ariel (aka The Little Mermaid) in the upcoming season, but have not yet cast the role. The third season premieres Sunday September 29 on ABC with "The Heart of the Truest Believer."
