Rapper Tay-K, whose real name is Taymor McIntyre, has been found guilty of murder in Texas for the second time following the revelation of new evidence.

McIntyre, 24, is already serving a 55-year sentence and could face an additional five to 99 years in prison for the killing of 23-year-old photographer Anthony Saldivar in 2017. McIntyre was found not guilty of capital murder. However, jurors in San Antonio, Texas, unanimously agreed to convict him of the lesser charge of murder.

On April 23, 2017, Salvidar was found with a fatal gunshot wound at a Chick-fil-A restaurant near the North Star Mall in San Antonio. Authorities said McIntyre picked Salvidar up after the rapper asked Salvidar to take photos for a new song. Prosecutors argued that McIntyre shot Saldivar after trying to rob him.

McIntyre’s attorneys argued that the investigation of the shooting and the subsequent case relied too much on statements from witnesses rather than physical evidence. “Taymor McIntyre is not guilty of capital murder, murder, or manslaughter,” John Hunt, a lawyer for McIntyre, said during closing arguments. “The reason for that is simple, you have to do it right. You have to do the work, and this case demonstrates the work wasn’t done [right].”

In 2019, McIntyre was also convicted of murdering 21-year-old Ethan Walker during a 2016 home invasion in Mansfield, southeast of Fort Worth.

Saldivar’s murder led to a nationwide manhunt during the release of his new song, “The Race,” which peaked at No. 44 on the Billboard Hot 100. He was later apprehended in New Jersey on June 30, 2017 – the same day his music video of the same name was dropped and featured lyrics related to his case and posed in his own wanted poster.
