After a slew of shipping delays due to a pre-order backlog caused by the virtual reality company’s latest innovation: the Rift VR headset. Straight out of a sci-fi film, the Oculus Rift is for those looking to jump into virtual realities.

Oculus Rift: What Do The Reviews Say?

There’s a cylindrical black tracking camera on an 8-inch stand and it comes with two accessories: a remote and an Xbox One gamepad. The remote, OLED display and IR LED sensor allow users to explore and navigate virtual worlds while sitting, standing or walking around. It features a high resolution and rotational and positional tracking let users play exclusive games. The all-black headset is pretty clunky looking, but perhaps charmingly so. Virtual reality, after all, was originally territory for gamers. Using the headset requires users to download Oculus’ Windows app since there is controller box or external power cable. That requires a pretty powerful gaming desktop.

Giz Mag praised its design. “The Oculus Rift does have a very sleek and polished build. It looks like the Oculus/Facebook shot for an Apple level of design polish, trying to communicate subconsciously to customers that the Rift is an iconic moment in consumer tech history,” they said.

Snag it at Best Buy for $599.99.
