Matt LeBlanc revealed that he no longer has a relationship to his father after his father sold stories about him to the press.

LeBlanc has spoken often about being raised by a single mother, Patricia, after his father, Paul, left them when he was an infant. When he got the role of Joey Tribbiani in Friends, LeBlanc bought his mother a house, and speaks about their close relationship. The actor is much more removed from his father, whom he met for the first time when he was eight years old.

“My dad wasn’t around when I was born and I only met him for the first time when I was eight. We had a good relationship when I was a kid – he taught me how to ride a motorcycle, how to sail a boat, how to tie knots,” LeBlanc told The Times Magazine in a recent interview.

LeBlanc also revealed that the two had a falling out after he became a successful actor. With the success of Friends came increasing publicity, and LeBlanc says that his father sold stories about him to the press. “Since then he has sold stories about me to the tabloids. We don’t really speak any more.”

Though he may not have a relationship with his father, LeBlanc has a close relationship with his daughter, Marina, 10.

“She’s a daddy’s girl. She can wrap me around her little finger. I’m powerless,” LeBlanc told Telegraph in May.

LeBlanc currently stars on the Showtime comedy Episodes.
