'Friends' Not Reuniting On NBC Despite Rumor

NBC is not bringing back the hit comedy Friends, which starred Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt Leblanc and David Schwimmer. Last week an image of the show’s person-less orange couch with the text, “Friends. The one with the reunion. Thanksgiving 2014,” was posted by the KHITS radio network in Tulsa Okla., Examiner reported. But it was all just a rumor, Warner Brothers confirmed to Huffington Post.

The former castmembers have denied following through on the idea of a reunion, with some believing the cons would outweigh any possible benefits.

“That show was about a finite period of time, before you got married and went off to start your life with a family,” Matt Leblanc, who played Joey, told EW last June, later adding, “I don’t want to see old Joey. I don’t want to see Chandler and Monica, Leblanc told EW last June, later adding, "Everyone’s going to have [sic] different vision of what those characters are like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people. A couple of people will go, ‘That’s what I thought!’ but for the most part it’s going to let people down. It’s better to let them just think.”

These days it would be hard to round up the whole bunch, anyway. Leblanc stars on the Showtime series Episodes, for which he was nominated for an Emmy and received a Golden Globe. Perry stars on the NBC comedy Go On, Cox on the TBS sitcom Cougar Town and Kudrow on the Showtime series Web Therapy. Schwimmer, meanwhile, will next appear in the film Iceman, starring Michal Shannon and due out this May, while Aniston will take the lead in We’re the Millers, which will come out at the end of the summer.
