Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is fighting over net neutrality with Star Wars actor Mark Hamill.

TED CRUZ & MARK HAMILL FEUD ON TWITTER

Hamill has been an outspoken advocate for keeping net neutrality, which was voted to be repealed by the FCC last week. “Luke, I know Hollywood can be confusing, but it was Vader who supported govt power over everything said & done on the Internet,” wrote Cruz’s official Twitter account, but erroneously addressed the actor as @HammillHimself. “That’s why giant corps (Google, Facebook, Netflix) supported the FCC power grab of net neutrality. Reject the dark side: Free the net! ”

Of course the Luke Skywalker actor took the opportunity to clap back at Cruz. “Thanks for smarm-spaining it to me @tedcruz I know politics can be confusing, but you’d have more credibility if you spelled my name correctly. I mean IT’S RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF YOU! Maybe you’re just distracted from watching porn at the office again❤️-mh,” Hamill said, calling back to an incident a few months ago when Cruz’s official Twitter ‘liked’ a pornography account. The senator later blamed a staffer for the inappropriate action.

Cruz responded again, trying to take the high road in two tweets. “Yes, that’s it. So sorry to misspell your name. Respond not with facts, but with anger. Who was it that said, “Fear is the path to the dark side…fear leads to anger…anger leads to hate”? Rather than insults, try civil discussion of facts. Fact 1: until 2015, the FCC had NO authority over Internet. The Net grew free & unregulated. Fact 2: W/ “net neutrality” the FCC declared power to regulate everything said & done on Internet. That’s really bad for freedom.”

The Twitter feud began when Hamill tweeted at FCC chairman Ajit Pai with a screenshot from a bizarre video Pai posted last week, trying to assure citizens that their normal web browsing would not be affected by the repeal of net neutrality. “Cute video Ajit ‘Aren’t I Previous?’ Pai,” Hamill said. “But you are profoundly unworthy to wield a lightsaber-A Jedi acts selflessly for the common man-NOT lie 2 enrich giant corporations. Btw-did you pay John Williams his royalty? #AJediYouArenNOT.”

And finally, Donald Trump Jr. had to jump into the Twitter feud. “Ted Cruz kills Luke Skywalker part 1 #starwars,” the president’s son wrote.
