After making his first surprise appearance of the night at the Hot 97 Summer Jam, Kanye West announced to fans that he would be performing at the Manhattan club Webster Hall at 2 a.m. Monday morning. The concert was meant to make up for the cancelation of his performance at the Governor’s Ball this weekend. West’s set, along with the majority of the scheduled lineup, could not take place due to severe weather.

Fans rushed to the new location and flooded the streets of Manhattan when the capacity of the venue reached its limit.

West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, posted on Snapchat a video of him attempting to solve the crowd problem while keeping the fans in mind. He is captured saying, “Call the Mayor and shut down the block about four streets, so they can have a party outside. I know it’s sold out already.”

When the crowd continued to grow to an estimated 4,000 people, with reports of riot conditions, the show was canceled. While there was no performance, West and his wife drove through the crowd greeting fans. Tweets from attendees show that the night was not a disappointment despite the cancellation.
