‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’ Finale Recap: Mama June & Sugar Bear Get Married

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, as had been anticipated for months, wrapped up its second season with the commitment ceremony between “Mama” June Shannon and Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson in the backyard of their McIntyre, Ga., home.

The finale began the day before the celebration with Mama June making sure of some last-moment details. Among them was her command that her daughters sway down the aisle rather than simply walk. And, after cooking Sugar Bear up a “last meal” of pork 'n’ beans, she makes him sleep outside in a tent. He obliges with love in his eyes.

In the morning, Sugar Bear wakes up soaking wet from the rainy night sleeping outside but “so excited [he] might explode.” When he goes to get dressed for the big day, he gets to put on his new “manties” emblazoned with “property of June” on the back. As for Mama June, she has a near-meltdown when she can’t find her veil. Thankfully, Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson comes to the rescue.

Camouflage and orange were the color themes of the day, with Mama June decked out in a camouflage dress with orange accents and Sugar Bear sporting camo pants and an orange vest over a black button down. Sparkling down the aisle ahead of their mother were her four daughters-turned-bridesmaids – Chikadee, Chubbs, Pumpkin and Honey Boo Boo. The family dog was also in attendance and wore a pink dress to match the others.

After flower girl Honey Boo Boo leaves “the other girls in the dust… of my petals,” and the girls all sway for fear of Mama June making good on her promise to “knock you’re asses out,” the bride walks down the aisle. Sugar Bear begins to tear up as she meets him in front of Pastor Dan. Once they’ve exchanged their vows, they’re pronounced “partners in life” and kiss.

Following the ceremony, the Shannon and Thompson family and their 100 guests dined on macaroni and cheese and baked beans made by Mama June herself. For entertainment, they’d rented a massive blue waterslide to the delight of the children and adults alike. When all the celebrating is done, Mama June and Sugar Bear take off on their all-terrain vehicle with “Just Married” festooned on the back and cans rattling in their wake.

TLC has renewed Here Comes Honey Boo Boo for a third season.
