Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has addressed criticism regarding her numerous business ventures following her and Prince Harry‘s departure from the royal family in 2020. In a recent interview with the New York Times, Markle stated, “I need to work, and I love to work,” emphasizing her longstanding work ethic since age 13.

Since stepping back from royal life, Markle has launched many projects, including her rebranded lifestyle company, As Ever, which offers products like crepe mix and flower sprinkles. She is reportedly “upset and stressed” by the negative reaction to her new brand.

The Duchess has also produced multiple Netflix shows with Harry, including the 2022 docuseries Harry & Meghan, and is preparing to release a new podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, on April 8.

Markle’s series With Love, Meghan was met with near-universal disdain from critics and fans but was renewed by Netflix.

Markle highlighted her desire to connect her professional endeavors with her home life, stating, “This is a way I can connect my home life and my work.” She also addressed accusations of being “unrelatable” and “out of touch,” pointing to her modest upbringing and affirming her commitment to her work.

The couple’s $20 million Spotify deal was not renewed and considered a flop.

Markle and Prince Harry reside in Montecito, California, with their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
