Mama June Shannon revealed that she spent almost $1 million on drugs in the last year of her addiction.

In a new interview with Access Hollywood, Shannon discussed the challenges she faced while trying to become sober, along with her boyfriend Geno Doak.

“[My] bank accounts [were] overdrawn tens of thousands of dollars,” she said. “I would say the last year of our addiction, [we spent] probably a good $900,000. So much money was sent to our dope man.”

Shannon, who became famous as the mother of Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson in the hit reality TV show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, has been gearing up for the release of her new show Mama June: Road to Redemption, which follows her struggles with sobriety.

“I was around drugs all my life, my brother-in-law had gotten busted several times for selling dope, my sisters have had pill addictions after surgery, so addiction does run in my family,” she said in the interview. “When I was 20 years old, I went from nothing and started using meth – as it was known back in the day, crank.”

In a past Here Comes Honey Boo Boo spin-off, titled Mama June: Family Crisis, Shannon had revealed that she was spending at least $2,500 a day on methamphetamines. She said that in 2015, her boyfriend convinced her to quit, but she eventually fell back into her addiction.

“I went to rehab with $1.75 to my name and I came out with nothing,” she said. “But I built that up, even during COVID virus.”

Shannon’s relationship with her daughters is “a work in progress,” since going to rehab, she said, adding that her relationship with her four kids, as well as Doak’s four kids is “strained.”

Now, she said she’s 14-months sober from drugs and is “addicted to helping people in recovery,” she said.
