Myth BustersGrant Imahara died on Monday after a brain aneurysm at age 49. He acted as both a host and electrical engineer for the Discovery Channel’s popular show Myth Busters. 

The Discover Channel issued a statement on Monday that said, “We are heartbroken to hear this sad news about Grant. He was an important part of our Discovery family and a really wonderful man. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.”

Imahara made his Myth Busters debut in 2005 and left the show in 2014 along with co–stars Kari Byron and Tory Belleci. The three later appeared together in Netflix series the White Rabbit Project. 

Imahara is also known for his work on the visual effects for popular movies Star Wars, Matrix, Terminator and Jurassic Park. 

Those who worked with Imahara on Myth Busters expressed their sorrow on Twitter. 

Byron tweeted, “Heartbroken and in shock tonight. We were just talking on the phone. This isn’t real.”

Belleci said, “I just cannot believe it. I don’t even know what to say. My heart is broken. Goodbye buddy”

Adam Savage wrote, “I’m at a loss. No words. I’ve been part of two big families with Grant Imahara over the last 22 years. Grant was a truly brilliant engineer, artist and performer, but also just such a generous, easygoing, and gentle PERSON. Working with Grant was so much fun. I’ll miss my friend.”
