Fadi Fawaz, the boyfriend of late singer George Michael, is reportedly asking for a chunk of the singer’s estate and the right to stay inside the home they shared, according to a friend of Michael’s.

Andros Georgiou, a friend of Michael’s since childhood, told The Sun that Fawaz is seeking a large payout from the singer’s estate because of a failed attempt at a book deal. According to Georgiou, Fawaz approached publishers with a tell-all-book idea, seeking millions of dollars, but that no publisher would pay. Out of options, Fawaz reportedly turned to collecting part of Michael’s estate.

“[A book deal] is not going to keep up the lavish life he lived alongside George for very long,” Georgiou told The Sun. “I’m sure he can now see his comforts disappearing.”

Since the Wham! singer’s death in February, public spats between Fawaz and Michael’s family have been frequent. At one point, members of Michael’s family tried to evict him from the home and keep him away from the funeral.

Despite these many controversies, Georgiou said that Fawaz’s attempt to get part of the estate “has come out of the blue.”

Fawaz has denied the many accusations against him on Twitter and in some instances, deleted tweets some view to be cryptic. He has also taken a hard-line against The Sun‘s reporting, particularly over Georgiou’s story.

“Laura Amstrong (sic) the whore from @TheSun BE CAREFUL,” Fawaz tweeted. Armstrong is the author of the story.

Fawaz also thanked those who believe him. “Thank you all for not believeing (sic) whats out there and for your lovely messages. I’m a very happy man today,” a recent tweet read.

Fawaz, a hair dresser, dated Michael for several years before the singer’s death. He was the first to find Michael dead on Christmas day in 2016.
