Austin & Ally, the popular kids sitcom, aired its series finale on Sunday. After four seasons of watching characters played by Ross Lynch and Laura Marano, who spent much of the series as an on-and-off couple, the show created a dedicated fan base that followed the cast’s every move, both on and off the screen.

“We were blessed with an amazing cast, and we knew our fans would love them as much as we did,” the co-creators Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert, told Variety magazine. The creators also worked on All That, Kenan & Kel, Good Burger and Demi Lovato’s Sonny With A Chance. They were also not surprised by their show’s success which they credit  to the cast – Lynch, who plays Austin; Marano, who plays Ally; Raini Rodriguez who plays Trish; and Calum Worthy, who plays Dez.

The final episode, titled “Musicals & Moving On,” is set to watch the foursome as they begin the next step in their lives. The show almost hit 100 episodes, but Kopelow and Seifert knew the average Disney show only lasts about three or four seasons.

“In fact, our show was as good as done after season three, but we worked really hard to get those last episodes. It was interesting because we had to write the end of season three as if it was going to be the last. When we did the season four finale, we knew we were done,” said the creators.

They cherished the show’s welcoming and loving set. “The cast and crew. It was a very special set. Anytime anyone would visit, they would marvel at what a harmonious and positive environment we’d created. It was truly a family,” they said. “We still talk to the cast all the time, and our greatest takeaway from the whole experience is the lifelong friendships we gained.”
