Filmmaker Jeff Baena, The White Lotus star Aubrey Plaza‘s husband, was found dead at 47 in his Los Angeles home on Friday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

TMZ reported that it was by suicide, as an investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department is ongoing. Baena’s body was found around 10:30 a.m. on Friday.

Baena and Plaza started dating in 2011, and Plaza revealed that they got married in 2021.

Baena was best known for his directing and writing, such as Life After Beth, The Little Hours and Horse Girl. Many of his works were in collaboration with Plaza.

Baena also co-wrote the 2004 movie I Heart Huckabees with David O. Russell.

Plaza, known for her roles in White Lotus and Parks and Recreation, occasionally shared parts of their relationship publicly, but she mostly kept it private.

Baena told Reel Talker in 2022, “She’s awesome. I’d be working with her if she wasn’t my wife, but luckily, she is my wife.”

Plaza’s last Instagram post about Baena was in May 2021, in which she congratulated her husband on his 2022 film, Spin Me Round.

“So proud of my darling husband @jeffbaena for dreaming up another film that take us to Italia to cause some more trouble,” Plaza stated on Instagram.

Plaza has not commented on Baena’s death at the time of publication.

Plaza, who is notoriously private about her personal life, came out as bisexual in a 2016 interview with The Advocate.
