Lucas Coly, French-American Rapper & Social Media Influencer, Dies At 27
Lucas Coly, a French-American rapper and social media influencer, has died at 27. The cause of the rapper’s death has not been explicitly detailed, but reports say that he died in a car accident.
Coly’s claim to fame originally started on Vine. The rapper would upload clips of him singing in French and English – ultimately leading his other social media platforms to skyrocket in growth. He had 1.3 million Instagram followers at the time of his death
The singer was born in France on March 12, 1996, but moved to the United States when he was eight. However, Coly moved back to France when he got older to pursue an artistic career.
Best known for his song “I Just Wanna,” the track has amassed over 19 million views since its release on YouTube in 2016. Alongside this hit, “Break Ya Back” and “My Lil Shawty” were among other singles of Coly’s that were widely recognized in his fanbase.
In an Instagram post, Coly’s manager wrote, “Being your manager was one of the reasons I stayed here. There’s a hole in my heart right now, Lucas. We used to speak about our struggles all the time but smile for the fans. So many people repeatedly hurt us, but we had each other.”
“Honestly, Lucas, it hasn’t set in yet because I refuse to believe you are gone,” his manager concluded. “Heart ripped to shreds. God send him back here. Please.”
