Marilyn Manson Turns Himself In On New Hampshire Arrest Warrant
Marilyn Manson turned himself into L.A. police last week on an outstanding New Hampshire arrest warrant. Manson, whose legal name is Brian Hugh Warner, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of simple assault in connection with an incident concerning a videographer on August 19, 2019. The victim was filming in the stage pit at the time of the alleged assault, which occurred at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford.
Gilford Police Chief Anthony Burpee confirmed that the performer had turned himself in and had been processed by police. Manson was released without bail as he awaits his first court appearance in New Hampshire. Los Angeles Police Captain Brent McGuyre processed the 52-year-old’s surrender and stated that the protocol for Manson’s case was “consistent with anybody who has a misdemeanor warrant that is not local.”
If convicted, Manson faces less than a year in prison and a fine of up to $2,000.
The singer has also faced unrelated abuse allegations in recent years. Multiple women have come forward accusing Manson of sexual abuse.
Evan Rachel Wood made headlines when she publically claimed that he had groomed and sexually abused her for the duration of their relationship. The two started dating in 2007 when Wood was 19 and Manson was 38. They became engaged in 2010, but broke up eight months later. In February, the actress revealed that she was “brainwashed” and “manipulated into submission” as a teenager.
After Wood’s allegations, several more women came forward including Game of Thrones actress Esmé Bianco, who sued Manson in federal court, alleging sexual, physical and emotional abuse. The actress claimed that he violated human trafficking laws when the rocker flew her from England to California under false pretenses. Bianco was told that she would be filming a music video and movie, but there was no crew or equipment besides Manson and his cell phone. She alleged that she was also expected to stay at his home instead of a hotel room.
Manson and his lawyers have denied the sexual abuse allegations against him.
