Chris Evans recently sent a video message to a young boy named Bridger, who saved his sister from a dog attack. Evans promised to send Bridger an official Captain America shield, thanking him for his courageous act.

Evans said in the video, “Pal, you’re a hero, what you did was so brave, so selfless – your sister is so lucky to have you as a big brother. Your parents must be so proud of you.”

Bridger’s aunt, Nicole Noel Walker, shared in an Instagram post, that her nephew had saved his sister’s life by “standing between her and a charging dog.” After the accident, the boy received 90 stitches. Walker added that Bridger explained what he did because, “If someone had to die, I thought it should be me.”

Walker later shared a video of Bridger listening to Evans’s message on her account. The young hero was fittingly wearing a Captain America costume.

“Keep being the man you are, we need people like you,” Evans continued to say in his message. “Hang in there, I know recovery might be tough, but based on what I’ve seen, I don’t think there’s much that can slow you down.”

Many other celebrities and superheroes have congratulated Bridger on his bravery including The Hulk, Robbie Amell who plays Firestorm on The Flash, Brie Larson who plays Captain Marvel in the Marvel films as well as Grant Gustin who plays The Flash on The CW.

Mark Ruffalo was one of the first celebrities to respond to Walker’s Instagram posts. Ruffalo named the boy “more of a man than many, many I have seen or known.”
