Paz De La Huerta Rape Accusations Against Harvey Weinstein Could Result In Criminal Charges

The latest sexual assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein could result with criminal charges. At a press conference on Friday, New York City Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce says Paz de la Huerta‘s case is credible because she’s able “to articulate each movement of the crime, where she was, where this happened.”

De la Huerta, 33, has appeared in A Walk To Remember, the HBO series Boardwalk Empire and Cider House Rules, where she first met Weinstein. De la Huerta alleges that he raped her in her apartment two times in 2010.

During an interview with CNN, de la Huerta said she called the NYPD rape hotline last week to report the alleged rape. Since then, she and her attorney have been working with the NYPD’s special victim’s unit and the district attorney’s office.

In October of 2010, de la Huerta said she saw the producer at a club in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood, where they both had been living. She had accepted a ride home from Weinstein and when they arrived at her apartment, he insisted on joining her for a drink inside of her apartment. De la Huerta said, “He pulled my dress up and unzipped his pants and raped me.” She recalls being in a “state of shock,” which is the reason why she had been so still.

The second alleged assault occurred almost two months later when Weinstein was said to have showed up in the lobby of her apartment. “The first time I was in complete shock and it happened so quickly. The second time, I was terrified of him,” de la Huerta said in a way of explaining why she reluctantly let him upstairs for a second time.

In the past month, more than 60 women have come forward with allegations of sexual harassment or assault again Weinstein. Police in London and Los Angeles have also opened investigations. The Manhattan District Attorney’s office told CNN they have a sex crimes prosecutor assigned to an “active investigation” into the alleged incidents.

Weinstein has repeatedly denied “any allegations of non-consensual sex.”
