Kate Winslet Tells Jimmy Kimmel That Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jack Should Have Survived In ‘Titanic’

Twenty years after Titanic, the second highest grossing movie of all time hit theaters, fans of the Jack and Rose love story are still questioning why the dashing character had to die. In that heartbreaking scene, Jack is unable to share the door that Rose is on top of and freezes to his death before Rose is rescued.

Kate Winslet, who portrayed the famous Rose, visited Jimmy Kimmel on his late night show to discuss her recent roles and the matter of Jack’s death. Kimmel blamed her character for letting Jack freeze to death. Winslet happened to agree.

“I agree, I think he could have actually fit on that bit of door,” Winslet said to Kimmel’s comment with a laugh. Winslet also went on to say that it is “lovely” that fans are still harping over the loss of Leonardo DeCaprio‘s character, Jack Dawson.

It seems the two could have both survived the frigid waters and lived a long, happy life together. Mythbusters hosts, Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, even took a stab at the famous scene in 2010, and it seems Jack and Rose both could have survived with a simple trick of the life vest that Rose was wearing. The jacket could have been used to stabilize the door so that in the time it took to be rescued, they would have survived.
