Hillary Clinton Is Set To Appear on ‘Saturday Night Live’
Hillary Clinton is scheduled to appear on SNL this weekend, according to reports on Friday.
Hillary Clinton Will Appear on ‘Saturday Night Live’
Clinton’s campaign reportedly wants the presidential hopeful to showcase her funny, personable side as the campaign heads into the first Democratic debate.
In a secret appearance that her campaign would not confirm, Clinton will face her comedic clone, Kate McKinnon, who has become the latest SNL member to put on a blonde wig and play Clinton as a driven woman who would do anything to become president.
During the cold open SNL skit on the night before Clinton’s announcement in April, McKinnon, as Mrs. Clinton, prepared for her 2016 run with the help of her red-headed assistant, Kristina.
“Meet my hand in the air!” McKinnon says, mocking the sternness of Clinton’s high-five.
Clinton allegedly turned down an opportunity to give the keynote address to the influential Human Rights Campaign, in order to make an appearance on the show.
NBC and SNL were hoping to make Clinton’s appearance a surprise. The show’s creator, Lorne Michaels, is known for being tight-lipped about guests and has even changed the lineup at the last minute.
Clinton actually made a surprise appearance on SNL in 2008, joining Amy Poehler in a skit that mocked news media bias to Senator Barack Obama and Clinton’s loud cackle.
“Amy’s a friend of mine, and Kate’s doing a great job,” Clinton told CNN in July. “You’re not going to get me to pick one or the other. I think I’m the best Hillary Clinton, to be honest.”
