Gwyneth Paltrow Recalls Her Late Dad
Gwyneth Paltrow had a famously good relationship with her late father, director Bruce Paltrow, and one of their biggest bonding experiences was when they cooked together. Even after his death in 2002, Gwyneth says she feels connected to Bruce when she’s cooking. "I always feel closest to my father, who was the love of my life until his death in 2002, when I am in the kitchen," she writes in her new cookbook, My Father’s Daughter, scheduled for release next April.
Excerpts of the book were printed in Vogue‘s August issue. "I can still hear him over my shoulder," she writes, "heckling me, telling me to be careful with my knife, moaning with pleasure over a bite of something in only the way a Jew from Long Island can." Paltrow may be known for her healthy eating – she famously detoxes before she begins filming — but she admits that her father was more of a junk food fan. She has included a recipe for french fries, one of her favorite foods, albeit a baked version. –ELENA COX
