Dallas, TNT's reboot of the primetime soap that ran from 1978 to 1991, premiered Wednesday to an average audience of 6.8 million viewers, easily claiming the top spot for a scripted series premiere on cable so far this year, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Starring Larry Hagman, Linda Gray, Jesse Metcalfe, Josh Henderson and Jordana Brewster, Dallas also hit the mark with the most desired demographic, capturing the attention of 1.9 million adults ages 18-49.

Dallas picks up essentially where it left off over 20 years ago, following the next generation of the Ewings, a wealthy Texas oil family. Henderson plays John Ross Ewing, the son of J.R. and Sue Ellen, while Metcalfe plays Bobby's son Christopher.
