Saturday Night Live this weekend featured comic actor Seth Rogan serving as the host and British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran performing as the musical guest.

GOP At Coachella

The California music festival Coachella has been dominating the headlines, so it’s no wonder that Saturday Night Live decided to include it during their cold open this weekend. The twist was a political one, which featured imitations of Jeb Bush (Beck Bennett) and Paul Ryan (Taran Killam).

Seth Rogan Hosts ‘SNL’

In his opening monologue, Rogen claimed that he didn’t need to call from his roster of celebrity friends to make cameos in his third turn as a Saturday Night Live host. Enter Zooey Deschanel, Taylor Swift and his best pal James Franco, who was recently caught flirting with a 17-year-old through Instagram and text messages. Rogen quipped that he'd posed as a young girl and had arranged to meet Franco at a hotel.

Monster Pals

James Franco also joined Rogen for an odd pre-taped skit titled Monster Pals in which one of the monsters decides he wants to look more human. Unfortunately for his still-monster buddy, the surgery has made him unrecognizable as he searches for him throughout New York City.

Shallon: Drug Safety

Nasim Pedrad, as her recurring SNL character Shallon, was a complete annoyance and distraction during a D.A.R.E. presentation by a D.A.R.E. officer (Rogen.) “You’re saying if I get high, I can feel like I got an A on my Spanish test, even if I got an F? Sign me up man!”

CNN Pregnancy Test

In a somewhat risky move by the writers, Saturday Night Live poked fun at CNN’s coverage of the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370. Instead of covering the search for a missing plane, CNN gave updates on a pregnancy test, including “Breaking: CNN more confident than ever that it will soon know if you’re pregnant,” and “Breaking: search for pregnancy enters third week.”

Steakhouse

Rogen plays the boyfriend of Aidy Bryant, whose arms are immobilized, requiring him to do everything for her, including putting on and taking off her underwear and inexpertly putting on her lipstick.

Weekend Update

David Ortiz (Kenan Thompson) popped by Weekend Update with Colin Jost and predominantly discussed what he’s recently eaten and what he planned to consume later on. He also touched on his controversial selfie with President Barack Obama with a Samsung phone.

Blue River Dog Food

In Blue River Dog Food, Rogen and Strong’s conversation about dog food starts off amiable enough before they get into a blow out fight about the K9 eats, as well as a string of other more pressing issues. The star of this sketch was very easily their dog, Peanut.

Engagement Party

In Engagement Party, Rogen and Vanessa Bayer play an engaged pair that starts to have some problems when Rogen’s loud-mouthed cousin (Cecily Strong) crashes the party. She reveals that he once performed oral sex on a guy who was passed out.

Undercover Sharpton

In a skit with Rogen and Bobby Moynihan, Thompson played a younger version of Al Sharpton in his own TV show Undercover Sharpton in which he fights crime in the city. The joke is that he’s woefully ill-equipped for espionage.

Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran’s U.S. popularity is likely to soar as he killed his performance of “Sing” on the SNL stage.

Saturday Night Live is on hiatus until May when Andrew Garfield will host and Coldplay will perform.
