Will Smith Cries Over Rebuilding Relationship With Son Trey Smith

Will Smith‘s children Jaden, 20, and Willow, 18, are famous worldwide. But his oldest son Trey, 26, has remained out of the spotlight for the most part. It also appears he remained out of his father’s life for a large chunk of time.

On Tuesday, the Men in Black actor posted a video talking about how he made up with Trey after the two were at odds for years. Smith got teary-eyed as he talked from a hotel suite on the subject.

“So I’m in Abu Dhabi at the F1, I brought my son Trey. We’ve been hanging and I usually take my kids separately on stuff so they have their individual daddy time,” the I Am Legend actor said.

“So we’ve been doing this, hanging at the F1, and he said, ‘You know what dad? I just realized you’re not just my dad — I’m pretty sure you’re my best friend,'” Smith said as he got misty-eyed. “I was like, yeah man, prolly, prolly.”

Smith would describe the relationship further in the video’s caption, writing, “It has not always been like this between Trey & I. We STRUGGLED FOR YEARS after my Divorce from his Mother.
