Two Russian Politicians, Who Were Critical Of Putin, Die Mysteriously Within Days
A high-profile Russian politician who has been critical of President Vladimir Putin was found dead after he fell from a third-floor window at a hotel in India.
Pavel Antov, a multi-millionaire and sausage tycoon, was celebrating his birthday at a hotel in Odisha where another member of his party had died just two days prior. Vladimir Budanov died at the hotel after apparently suffering a stroke.

Antov, who was 65 at the time of his death, is the latest in a string of mysterious deaths involving Russian tycoons and officials. Many of the victims have been openly opposed to Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Earlier this year, Antov criticized the Russian airstrikes on Ukraine.
“To tell the truth, it is extremely difficult to call this anything other than terror,” he said on WhatsApp before swiftly deleting his message and apologizing. He told his followers that he had an “unfortunate misunderstanding” that caused him to make the claims.
Odisha authorities said it’s possible that Antov “may have become depressed over his friend’s death and committed suicide.” A Russian official said there was no “criminal element” in the incident.
Antov founded the Vladimir Standard meat processing plant and quickly became the richest civil servant in Russia in 2019 with a fortune of over $140 million.
The Crime Investigation Department of India will proceed with an investigation.
