Trump White House Targets Selena Gomez Over Her Crying Video In Opposition To ICE Raids
Selena Gomez has become the latest high-profile target of the Trump administration following her public criticism of the president’s immigration policies.
The official White House social media accounts posted a video featuring three women—Tammy Nobles, Alexis Nungaray, and Patty Morin—whose children were allegedly murdered by undocumented immigrants. The women were seen reacting to Gomez’s emotional Instagram post, in which she expressed sorrow over the treatment of Mexican Americans and immigrants under the administration’s new policies.
Doubting Gomez’s sincerity, Nungaray said in the video, “Seeing that video, it’s hard to believe it’s actually genuine and real because she’s an actress.” Morin dismissed Gomez’s post, claiming, “I just feel like it’s a ruse to deceive people and garner sympathy for lawlessness.”
The video quickly turned into an endorsement of Trump’s hardline immigration stance, with Nobles stating, “I am so happy that Trump won,” while Morin added, “President Trump genuinely cares for the American people, and he cares for the American family. We stand with President Trump and making America safe again.”
The post tagged Gomez directly, an unusual move for an official government account, sparking widespread backlash. Actress Eiza González reacted with disbelief, commenting, “What the hell is happening? How is the White House official page posting this? Are you serious?”
Attorney Alicia Luncheon also questioned the administration’s approach: “Why is the official White House account exploiting a tragedy for clicks and views? Selena can absolutely grieve for Laken Riley… while also feeling for families being torn apart.”
The controversy comes after Trump signed the Laken Riley Act, named after a Georgia nursing student murdered by an undocumented immigrant. The law expands deportation powers, allowing migrants to be detained upon arrest rather than conviction.
Gomez, a Mexican American, has faced criticism from right-wing commentators for her stance. One former Senate candidate even suggested that Gomez “should be deported.”
In response, Gomez humorously dismissed the remark on her Instagram Story: “Thanks for the laugh and the threat.”
