Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are being held partially responsible for their son Chet Hanks‘ car accident in a lawsuit filed by the alleged victim.

Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson Sued Over Chet Hank’s Accident

Plaintiff Terry Moogan is suing Hanks and Wilson along with Chet for the accident in which the 25-year-old rapper allegedly crashed into his car.

“Despite knowing that Chester Hanks was a careless and reckless driver and a habitual user of drugs and alcohol, they negligently permitted Chester Hanks to operate their vehicle and thus, in addition to Chester Hanks, are responsible for the physical and emotional injuries Mr. Moogan sustained as a result of the accident,” the suit alleges, reported Entertainment Tonight.

The alleged accident occurred in Feb. 2015. Cops did not respond to the scene of the accident. Thus, there is no evidence that Chet was under the influence during the time of the supposed crash, and he was never charged with a DUI. Morgan’s purported injuries from the incident are unspecified in the suit.

Though Hanks and Wilson have yet to comment on the accident, Chet took to Twitter to share his side of the story. According to him, it was a “typical fender bender” and he had exchanged information with Moogan at the time of the crash.

Last fall, Chet opened up about his ongoing struggle with drug abuse. And, this January, he revealed that he was six-months sober.
