Shay Mitchell Shares An Emotional Goodbye Letter To ‘Pretty Little Liars’ [VIDEO]
After all of last week’s emotional Instagram posts as the Freeform series Pretty Little Liars wrapped its seventh and final season, the cast continues to express their goodbyes to the show. Shay Mitchell posted her “Farewell Letter” on YouTube on Tuesday.
The actress, who plays Emily Fields on the long-running series, recorded an eight-minute tearful goodbye video on her YouTube channel, wearing a jacket emblazoned with her character’s name and a large red “A” — the symbol of the series’ villain.
Through her tears, she goes on to recall shooting the pilot seven years ago, when they were huddled together in the cold to film that first scene in the barn that started it all, growing up with her cast mates and the crew members.
“Sad, anxious, excited, terrified, inspired, gratified, nervous, unsure, proud, upset, accomplished, relieved, devastated, lucky: I didn’t know it was possible to feel so much at once, yet I sit here with all my feelings. It feels like the last day of school with just an extra bit of emptiness.” she said in her video.
She continued, “Our show ending is such a weird, unique thing that I have only experienced from where you all are sitting: the viewer’s side. I remember shows I watched growing up ending and all that came along with a series finale, yet where I am seated now is so different. I don’t know what my life would’ve looked like without Pretty Little Liars.”
“Emily, Hanna, Alison, Aria and Spencer have now gone where all beloved characters go when people stop writing for them: The end. …I’d like to think that somewhere in an alternate Rosewood universe, that these five women will always remain a constant in each others’ lives, just as I hope we all do in our own reality,” she concluded.
Shay ends the video by thanking her fans for their endless support.
Recently, after one last hurrah at the wrap party, Mitchell and the five other main actresses (Lucy Hale, Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Janel Parrish and Sasha Pieterse) of the show went to get matching tattoos on of their fingers, with their character’s first initial.
Freeform will begin airing the last 10 episodes of Pretty Little Liars in April 2017.
