Hollywood stuntman Shawn Robinson was found dead in his hotel room last week while working on the new Mark Wahlberg film, Deepwater Horizon.

Shawn Robinson Found Dead In Hotel Room

Robinson performed stunts in many major blockbusters, including Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Transformers. He was in the middle of filming Peter Berg’s Deepwater Horizon in New Orleans. According to a report, another stuntman on the film went looking for Robinson after he failed to appear on set on July 28, only to find Robinson dead in his hotel room. Cause of death has not yet been released, and the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office is currently waiting for toxicology results.

Lionsgate, the studio behind Deepwater Horizon, released a statement on Friday, saying, “On behalf of the producers, cast and crew of Deepwater Horizon and the entire Lionsgate family, we want to send our most heartfelt condolences to the family of Shawn Robinson. Shawn was a gifted stunt performer and a beloved and trusted member of our crew. We grieve with his family over this tremendous loss.”

Robinson had an impressive career performing stunts and rigging stunt equipment to ensure safety on set. “The whole stunt community is in shock. He touched the lives of hundreds of stunt performers across the country. He was an amazing stunt rigger and worked on some of the biggest shows in town and was responsible for the safety of hundreds of stuntmen and women. He was a very likable guy who always had a smile on his face. This is tragic,” said stunt coordinator T.J. White.
