The original Knives Out received acclaim from both fans and critics, who praised the shocking twists and characters. Many critics praised the story for going in unexpected directions such as revealing early on who is responsible for killing the wealthy author Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) only to throw in yet another twist towards the end of the film on how exactly he got killed. The storytelling of the film earned Johnson an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay.

Another aspect of Knives Out that many fans loved was its star-studded cast. Critics praised the actors for their performances, particularly from Chris Evans as Hugh “Ransom” Drysdale, Harlan’s rude and arrogant grandson and the black sheep of the Thrombey family who was revealed to be the true killer at the end of the film. While Craig will return in the sequel, many fans are wondering if other actors from the first movie will return, particularly Ana de Armas who played Marta Cabrera, Harlan’s kindhearted nurse and the main character of the film.

The untitled sequel to Knives Out is expected to begin filming sometime around June.
