Sarah Palin is not impressed with her almost son-in-law Dakota Meyer‘s attempts to get joint custody of his child with her eldest daughter, Bristol Palin.

“For many months we have been trying to reach out to Dakota Myers (sic) and he has wanted nothing to do with either Bristol’s pregnancy or the baby,” Palin told Entertainment Tonight. “Paramount to the entire Palin family is the health and welfare of Sailor Grace.”

Palin also stated her belief that the custody filing is Meyer’s attempt to “save face.”

It was reported Tuesday that Meyer was seeking joint custody of daughter Sailor Grace, whom Bristol gave birth to on Dec. 23. In addition to joint legal and physical custody, he also wants to receive child support from Bristol, according to TMZ.

Though Bristol never confirmed that Meyer was the father, the former U.S. Marine shared a picture of the newborn baby girl on Twitter Christmas Eve. “Best Christmas present ever!!” he captioned the picture. “I couldn’t be more proud of this little blessing.”

Bristol and Meyer became engaged in March 2015 after several months of dating. Though all seemed well between the loved up pair, the wedding was called off just two months later when rumors started to swirl that Meyer had been hiding a previous marriage. And, another month later, Bristol revealed that she was pregnant – though she declined to confirm that Meyer was the father.

Bristol, 25, is already mom to son Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, 7, with former fiancé Levi Johnston.
