Rosie O'Donnell Reportedly Rejoining 'The View' Seven Years After Exit
Rosie O’Donnell will soon be returning as one of the hosts of The View, according to multiple reports.
Rosie O’Donnell Coming Back To ‘The View’
O’Donnell began negotiations with The View producers Monday, and by Monday evening, the deal was all but confirmed. On Tuesday, O’Donnell officially signed on to return to the daytime talk show, reported TMZ. The show plans to make the announcement about O’Donnell’s hiring in the near future.
Before it was reported that O’Donnell was confirmed to join The View, rumors were piling up suggesting she was ready to give the show another go.
“The worst kept secret ever is Rosie is returning to the show — it’s definitely happening!” an insider told HollywoodLife.com. “ABC wants to make the big announcement of her return during the TCAs along with the other new members of the cast.”
O’Donnell originally appeared on the show for eight months, from late 2006 to April 2007. She exited amidst scandal after having a number of highly publicized battles with co-hosts Star Jones and Elisabeth Hasselbeck and exchanging some unpleasant words with Donald Trump.
In addition to O’Donnell, The View is hoping to add two more women to join Whoopi Goldberg at the table—hopefully, a Latina and a conservative like Elisabeth Hasselbeck. According to TMZ, Abby Huntsman and Margaret Hoover are frontrunners for the conservative slot.
It’s been speculated that ABC will formally announce Rosie O’Donnell and the two other new hosts at the Television Critics Association’s upfront presentations on July 15-16.
