When it was revealed that social media dabbler and Punk’d creator Ashton Kutcher, 34, would play billionaire technology guru and Apple visionary Steve Jobs in the upcoming jOBS, which is set to close the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, some purists were skeptical about the match.

But new photos of Kutcher as the late Jobs, who died in October 2011 at the age of 56 after battling pancreatic cancer, might have some technophiles eating their words, as Two and a Half Men star Kutcher is channeling the Jobs look with eerie precision.

The jOBS biopic, written by newcomer Matt Whiteley, based on the bestselling Walter Isaacson biography and directed by Swing Vote‘s Joshua Michael Stern, will follow “the defining 30 years of Steve Jobs’ life,” according to the Sundance Institute, in a “candid, inspiring and personal portrait of the one who saw things differently.”

This will include the 70s-era, hippie Jobs who developed the first Apple computer in his early days, whom Kutcher is channeling in the photo above.
