PENELOPE CRUZ AT LOVING PABLO PREMIERE
She was on the red carpet for the premiere of her latest film, Loving Pablo. The beaded bodice of the Versace dress was silky and fit right to her skin, while the skirt was feathered and featured a thigh-high slit. Her hair was worn up in a classic bun, and her ears adorned with dancing diamond earrings. Cruz posed with her husband Javier Bardem on the red carpet.
Loving Pablo, directed by Fernando Leon de Aranoa, is a biopic about Pablo Escobar, the famed drug kingpin. Cruz plays his journalist lover Virginia Vallejo. Bardem plays Escobar, and the couple’s real-life chemistry lights up the screen. Described as “glossy and action-packed,” the film has been getting mostly positive reviews.
“Like flipping through the pages of a pulpy best-seller, watching Loving Pablo has its moments of guilty pleasure but leaves an empty feeling when you reach the end,” writes Hollywood Reporter reviewer Deborah Young. “The clever pairing of Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz as the vividly larger-than-life couple should give this lavish-looking English-language co-production a shot at the international box office before shifting to smaller screens. It will bow in Toronto right after its Venice launch out of competition.”
