Naya Rivera, the former Glee star, was arrested Saturday night for allegedly assaulting her husband, Ryan Dorsey, in West Virginia. Rivera, 30, was charged with a misdemeanor, domestic battery, early Sunday following the incident with her husband in his hometown of Chesapeake. Court records shows she was arraigned at Kanawha County Magistrate Court and was released on bond after a brief court appearance.

According to a criminal complaint, the incident began when police were called to a home in Chesapeake over a domestic situation. When the police arrived, Dorsey said that she had hit him in the head and on his bottom lip while they were taking their child for a walk down the street. He gave the police a cell phone video of the assault, which let to Rivera’s arrest.

During the brief court appearance, Rivera said she plans on hiring an attorney to fight the charges. Court records show that domestic battery carries a maximum of a year in prison and a fine of up to $500.
