Naya Rivera Cause Of Death: ‘Glee’ Star Died By Accidental Drowning, Rules Medical Examiner
Naya Rivera’s cause of death has been ruled an accidental drowning by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s office. The actress went missing last Wednesday after renting a boat with her four-year-old son, Josey Dorsey, at Lake Piru near Los Angeles.
The office released a report on Tuesday and confirmed it was Rivera’s body that was found in Lake Piru. The body identification was made possible by Rivera’s dental records.
The released report also stated that drugs nor alcohol played a part in Rivera’s drowning and the autopsy found no evidence of disease or traumatic injuries.
The examiner’s office further confirmed that Rivera’s death was caused by accidental drowning. The full statement from the Medical Examiner was posted on the Ventura County Sheriff’s Twitter account.
Since Rivera’s confirmed death, many of her co-stars, friends, family and fans have been posting tributes to honor the late actress. Glee creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan joined the outpouring of grief and remembrances for Rivera. The creators also mentioned in their tribute that they are in the process of creating a college fund for Rivera’s son.
