Morena Baccarin and Ben McKenzie are expecting a baby, the Gotham actors have confirmed.

Morena Baccarin Is Pregnant With Ben McKenzie’s Baby

Baccarin, who starred in Homeland before moving over to Fox’s Gotham during its first season, was able to hide her small baby bump at the Emmys in a red Reem Acra gown on Sunday, Sept. 20. But the actress confirmed her pregnancy just a few days later, when she filed court documents on Thursday announcing her pregnancy and naming her Gotham co-star, McKenzie, as the father.

Baccarin is currently going through a divorce from her husband of three years, Austin Chick. Chick filed for divorce in June citing irreconcilable differences as the cause of their breakup and had requested joint physical and legal custody of their almost two-year-old son, Julius Setta Chick. On Thursday, Baccarin filed court papers requesting a judge award her full physical custody of her son because, as her pregnancy moves along, she will no longer be able to fly from New York City, where she works, to Los Angeles, where Chick resides.

On Thursday, the judge granted Baccarin’s request, and her son will now be living primarily in NYC with her, though Baccarin and Chick will continue to share custody. However, Baccarin will also have to pay for Chick’s traveling expenses, as Chick has reportedly been granted visitation once a month for 8 days.

Rumors of a possible romance between Baccarin and McKenzie have been brewing over the summer, but the two had not made their relationship public until recently. Neither actor has directly commented on the pregnancy; however, McKenzie appeared to expressed his excitement at the prospect of becoming a father when he retweeted well-wishes from his sister, Camille Schenkkan.

“Couldn’t be happier for [Ben McKenzie] and [Morena Baccarin]. Welcome to the family, Morena! Also… I’M GONNA BE AN AUNT,” Schenkkan tweeted on Thursday.

Baccarin and McKenzie may be keeping their romance under wraps, but fans can watch them fall in love on screen in Gotham, airing Mondays on Fox.
