Martha Stewart’s Ex-Husband & His Current Wife Hit Back At ‘Abusive’ Mogul After Release Of Her Documentary
Martha Stewart’s ex-husband, Andrew Stewart, and his wife, Shyla Nelson Stewart, voiced their opinions on Stewart’s new Netflix documentary, Martha. In it, the businesswoman gave details about her toxic relationship with Andrew, whom she was married to from 1961 to 1990.
The documentary, which was released on Oct. 30, has been a hot topic after the trailer showed Stewart, 83, accuse Andrew of destroying their marriage by way of multiple affairs.
“I don’t know how many different girlfriends he had, but I think there were quite a few,” she said. “If you’re married, and you think you’re happily married, and your husband starts to cheat on you, he’s a piece of s—. Look at him as a piece of s–t and get out of it, get out of that marriage.”
In the documentary, Stewart herself confessed to a few trysts of her own while married to Andrew. “I had a very brief affair with a very attractive Irishman, and it was just nothing,” she stated. “It was nothing. In terms of … I would have never broken up a marriage for it. It was nothing.”
In response to the comments, Shyla posted a statement to Facebook, signed by her and Andrew.
“As some of you know, my husband is Andrew Stewart – brilliant publisher, avocational naturalist and nature photographer, and one of the gentlest, most softspoken, kind-hearted men I’ve ever known…Prior to this happy chapter of his life, Andy had some dark ones, including a painful and abusive marriage to Martha (as in, Martha Stewart), which ended almost 40 years ago.”
“The juxtaposition of Andy’s early life with the joy-filled, purpose-led, loving marriage we live in today is striking. Every day, we openly express our gratitude for our love and for our life together.”
The statement ended with the couple’s wish for everyone, “including Martha herself,” to experience the feeling of “loving and being loved deeply and fully and the peace that comes with such a love.”
In the documentary, Stewart also bashed the New York Post columnist who covered her legal battle surrounding the insider trading scandal, saying, “She had written horrible things during the entire trial. But she is dead now, thank goodness.”
The columnist, very much not dead, wrote a comeback article to Stewart’s statement, entitled, ‘Hey Martha Stewart, You Gloated About the Death of a Post Columnist – But I’m Alive, B—-!”
