It’s about damn time that Lizzo, whose real name is Melissa Viviane Johnson, announced to the world who her “special” someone is.

On Saturday, Lizzo, the 33-year-old “Truth Hurts” singer and founder of shapewear brand Yitty, hard-launched with boyfriend and comedian Myke Wright on her Instagram page.

The photos, which featured the two making an appearance at the Clive Davis gala of the 2023 Grammys weekend, saw Lizzo step out onto the red carpet donning a blue-and-black feathered dress and Wright, 35, in a three-piece tuxedo. The gala — an annual pre-Grammys party since 1976 — saw a live performance from her, and the singer-rapper stepped out again on Sunday evening during music’s biggest night to capture this year’s audience with electrifying renditions of “About Damn Time” and “Special.”

Lizzo, who wore a voluminous fiery red-orange gown and a cape hood covered in flower designs on the red carpet, was nominated for five awards herself: record of the year, song of the year, album of the year, best pop solo performance and best pop vocal album. Wright was right beside her.

She dropped several easter eggs about her relationship timeline with him over the past few years, but never officially publicized his affiliation as a romantic partner until Saturday.

The two have allegedly been dating since 2021, after meeting on set of their MTV show Wonderland in 2016. There were paparazzi photos of her walking with a “mystery man” in February 2022, and she had confirmed in a conversation with Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM series Radio Andy that the two were in fact dating. It turns out that Wright had been that person this whole time.
