Georges St-Pierre, Canadian welterweight champion, will likely fight his next title defense in Las Vegas for the first time since UFC 100 in 2009.

St. Pierre took down Nick Diaz in the pay-per-view headlining UFC 158 event at Montreal’s Bell Centre on Saturday. His next match-up will be against Johnny Hendricks, who also won on the night and has been gaining momentum.

"I was just telling Lorenzo [Fertitta] we've got to bring him back to Vegas," UFC President Dana White told MMAjunkie.com following UFC 158. "He hasn't been out of Canada in a while."

The last fight that St-Pierre fought in the United States was in March of 2010. The fight took place in Newark, N.J., where he beat Dan Hardy at UFC 111. Before that fight was his last in Vegas, where he took down Thiago Alves at UFC 100.

St-Pierre is wildly popular with UFC fans, and is responsible for swelling crowds at events he headlines. White believes that Montreal, with the city and surrounding areas' enthusiasm for UFC, can continue to draw large crowds even without St. Pierre. "We had two Brazilians headline up here and it was fantastic," White elaborated. "Montreal's a destination. It's a fun city to come to. I don't think anybody comes here and doesn't have a good time, even in the winter. It's cold as hell, but it's still a great place. Great restaurants, great hotels."

The U.S. matchup between St-Pierre and Hendricks has yet to be given a date. St-Pierre is reportedly taking a vacation from fighting and Hendricks will be recuperating from a hand injury, according to MMAjunkie.com. UFC PPV events usually take place in either early September or late December.
