The Albuquerque Police Department responded to an incident between UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones and a drug tester from Drug Free Sport International.

Jones reportedly threatened to kill the drug tester when “extremely intoxicated” and took his phone during the altercation. The incident allegedly happened in late March but was not reported until April 5 near Jones’ residence. No criminal charges have been brought against Jones as of now.

Throughout Jones’ career, the UFC champion has had several run-ins with the law, including drug use. In 2015, Jones tested positive for cocaine and was involved in a felony hit-and-run, leaving a pregnant woman injured. Police found cannabis in Jones’ vehicle.

UFC stripped Jones of his title. He avoided jail time but had 18 months of supervised probation. In 2016, Jones had another drug violation under a test from the United States Anti-Doping Agency.

Jones also faced a DWI in 2020 after police found Jones intoxicated in his vehicle. Jones pleaded guilty and served four days of house arrest on top of one year of supervised probation.

Jones was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2021 for his fight against Alexander Gustafsson. Later that year, authorities responded to a domestic incident in 2021 involving Jones’ fiancée, Jessie Moses, at Caesars Palace Resort Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jones’ daughter had called for help. The couple split in 2022.

Jones is currently in recovery from surgery after he tore his pectoral tendon during a fight camp. Jones pulled out of UFC 295 due to the injury.

In 2020, Jones was seen in a viral video chasing an intruder in his home.
