David Beckham Charges Ahead

David Beckham sliced through the defense in his first start for his new team, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), who were facing off against Olympique de Marseille on Sunday. PSG ultimately won the match 2-0, and Beckham, 37, played 86 minutes in the contest, during which he had to deal with opposing players trying to rough him up in his return to the pitch. The global star had previously played for the Los Angeles Galaxy of the MLS, as well as A.C. Milan. Despite the new surroundings, Beckham had some familiar faces in the crowd, most notably his wife Victoria, his sister Joanna and his mother Sandra.

When the soccer star hasn’t been on the field, he’s been working on some of his many lucrative endorsement deals. Just recently Beckham appeared in an underwear ad directed by Guy Ritchie for his H&M line of David Beckham Bodywear.

PSG is part of the French Ligue 1. They defeated Marseille again on Wednesday by the same score of 2-0. Their next match will be played on Saturday, Mar. 2 against Stade de Reims.—Hal Sundt
