Crown Princess Of Norway’s Son Is Arrested For Allegedly Assaulting A Woman
Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, was arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman in an apartment in Oslo.
The police confirmed that they had gone to an address in Olso on Sunday morning after a report of a violent incident that happened the previous night. What happened between Borg Høiby and the unnamed woman in the apartment on August 4 was unclear.
However, Mette-Marit’s eldest child was said to have attacked her both psychologically and physically. Eventually, she got him out of her apartment and called the police.
The police arrived, acquired technical evidence and briefly interrogated the woman. They did not identify the woman, saying there was a “relationship between the accused and the victim.” The police admitted that they had “no information that the victim suffered serious injuries.”
The woman was admitted to the hospital for investigation. She was discharged early Monday morning after being diagnosed with a concussion.
Borg Høiby had been arrested after the incident at another address. “As it has been made known in several media that this person is Marius Borg Hoiby, the police confirm that it is Hoiby who is a suspect in the case,” the police said in a statement.
They also noted that he was suspected of causing “bodily harm and damage.” The crown princess’ son was then taken to the police station in Oslo, where he was placed in solitary confinement.
He was released on Monday afternoon after over 30 hours in police custody. As a matter of routine, a blood test was taken from Borg Høiby to determine if he had been under the influence of drugs.
On Tuesday, Mette-Marit and her husband, Crown Prince Haakon, were set to return after the summer holidays by cheering on the Norwegian athletes during the 2024 Paris Olympics.
However, after her son’s alleged assault, the Palace’s communications adviser, Simen Løvberg Sund, stated that “the Crown Princess temporarily postponed her departure and hopes to travel down later.”
“The Crown Prince’s family must have received the news of the incident with shock and disbelief,” Sund added.
On August 7, Haakon told Norwegian media in the French capital that it was a “serious” matter.
“It’s a serious matter when police are involved like this,” he told the Norwegian television channel TV2. “At the same time, it would not be right for me to comment on it now.”
