Bristol Palin Opens Up About Ninth Breast Reconstruction Surgery After ‘Botched’ Reduction
Bristol Palin shared a photo on her Instagram on Wednesday where she appears to wear a compression bra with attached surgical drains from her most recent breast reconstruction surgery.
The 32-year-old mom said it was her ninth surgery to correct a “botched” reduction she had when she was 19.
She wrote: “I’ve had previous surgeries trying to correct the initial damage of muscle tissue and terrible scaring. The whole situation has honestly made me very self-conscious my entire adult life.”
She added that she hopes it was the last surgery she needs, sharing with fans that she’s trying her best to stay positive and remain thankful for all that she has.
Palin has a history of sharing her feelings on body image on social media.
In March 2021, she shared an Instagram video showing her scars from a tummy tuck she had gotten years prior.
She captioned the post with a message, saying that it’s easy to get discouraged comparing oneself to others on social media. Palin went on to write that people shouldn’t depend on others to feel validation and a sense of self-worth.
Palin entered the national spotlight when Sen. John McCain chose her mom, Sarah Palin to be his vice presidential running mate in 2008.
Since then she competed in the fall 2010 season of Dancing with the Stars, finishing in third place. In the summer of 2012, Palin starred in the Lifetime show Bristol Palin: Life’s a Tripp, which follows her day-to-day life residing in Alaska.
